|Went to the BECTU London Freelances’ Fair 2008 last Friday at BAFTA Piccadilly.
This is the third year of the Fair, and attendance appeared to surpass last year.
Informative stalls were complemented by a range of seminars and workshops.
At one of the seminars, Dean Whitbread, Chair of the UK Podcasters’ Association, spoke on the exploiting the digital future panel.
Following a quick apparatif of Timothy Taylor’s Landlord at the nearby Red Lion, I returned to the BAFTA bar for a lively discussion with event organisors from BECTU’s Writers Producers and Directors Branch.

|Two wrong signs

|These two signs are just wrong.
Seen at a building site in Hills Place near Oxford Circus in London yesterday, these two signs are wrong in two different ways:
- The first one, men working overhead, hang on – no women working here?
- The second one, falling objects, is not a good health and safety notice – doesn’t exactly inspire confidence!

Yahoo SearchMonkey evening

|Went to the Yahoo SearchMonkey Developer Event last night.
Presentations by the developers of SearchMonkey was followed by a lively debate.
To quote from the SearchMonkey developer home page:
Using SearchMonkey, developers and site owners can use structured data to make Yahoo! Search results more useful and visually appealing, and drive more relevant traffic to their sites.
SearchMonkey seems to be one of few innovative developments in search over the past few years.
Looking forward to meeting again those from the London web development community I shared a beer with last night at this great event.
