I took the 2008 ALA Survey

For the second successive year A List Apart is carrying out its survey of “designers, developers, information architects, project managers, writers, editors, marketers, and everyone else who makes websites”.

It shouldn’t take much more than 10 minutes to complete – I did it in less!

Last year there were nearly 33,000 responses, and this year’s findings will be reported as they were in 2007.

The more who participate in the survey, the better the results will be.

So, all of you involved in building websites, go to the survey now!

Update Saturday 16 August 2008 at 0746: The survey closes Tuesday 26 August 2008.

To the Great British Beer Festival 2008

Blimey – this year’s Great British Beer Festival almost passed under my radar!

Luckily, our old friend Upcoming brought it to my attention.

With so many beers available in the aircraft hanger environment of the main Earls Court hall, my advice is to drink in half pints in order to partake a good sample of ales.

I’ll be there this Tuesday evening with Thursday being a distinct possibility.

Drop me a line if you’re thinking of going…

Under discussion: WordPress UK local groups

WordCamp UK logo

One of the action points from this weekend’s WordCamp UK 2008 was to look at forming local WordPress groups.

These will allow regular meetups of WordPress users across the country.

Four groups are currently under discussion:

Follow the appropriate link for your area if you’re interested in getting involved.

If you’re not covered by these areas, join the WordCamp UK mailing list to propose a new group.

Local groups are one of a number of WordCamp UK initiatives to build a strengthened WordPress community in the light of its increasingly high profile use as a general web platform, such as the next version of the Number 10 Downing Street site.
