To the Great British Beer Festival 2008

Blimey - this year’s Great British Beer Festival almost passed under my radar!

Luckily, our old friend Upcoming brought it to my attention.

With so many beers available in the aircraft hanger environment of the main Earls Court hall, my advice is to drink in half pints in order to partake a good sample of ales.

I’ll be there this Tuesday evening with Thursday being a distinct possibility.

Drop me a line if you’re thinking of going…

At the Freelances’ Fair 2008

Picture of BECTU Freelances Fair 2008

Went to the BECTU London Freelances’ Fair 2008 last Friday at BAFTA Piccadilly.

This is the third year of the Fair, and attendance appeared to surpass last year.

Informative stalls were complemented by a range of seminars and workshops.

At one of the seminars, Dean Whitbread, Chair of the UK Podcasters’ Association, spoke on the exploiting the digital future panel.

Following a quick apparatif of Timothy Taylor’s Landlord at the nearby Red Lion, I returned to the BAFTA bar for a lively discussion with event organisors from BECTU’s Writers Producers and Directors Branch.

WordCamp UK presentation at London Bloggers

I gave a presentation on WordCamp UK last night at the June meeting of London Bloggers.

The presentation [pdf] seemed to go down postively at the well attended meeting at The Coach and Horses in Soho.

Afterwards Alexandra, Andy, Tim and myself made a detailed examination of the various beverages available from behind the bar from the vantage point of the Lego-like seating outside the pub.

Coach and bloggers

Braved the inclement weather last night to attend the April London Bloggers gathering.

Another good night at the West End’s glamorous Coach and Horses.

Amongst those I met were Alexandra Mitchell, Mecca Ibrahim, Andy Roberts, Tim Dickinson and event organiser Andy Bargery.

The next meeting is 27 May 2008 - I’ll be there!

Bloggers at the Coach and Horses

Went to my first London Bloggers meeting last night.

I was a bit late, due to a previous meeting, however the get together proved to be a sociable and worthwhile event, held in the legendary Coach and Horses in Soho.

Will definitely be attending again!
