WordCamp UK 2008: 50% of tickets sold

WordCamp UK logo

With less than a week to go, half the tickets for the UK’s first WordCamp have been sold.

The planning and organisation for the event has been run on open source lines, using a core combination of wiki and mailing list, leading to the active involvement of many volunteers.

In particular, from my point of view as WordCamp UK coordinator, the substantial work involved in organising the event has been spread amongst a number of mailing list subscribers.

This has been particularly useful in making arrangements for staging the WordCamp in Birmingham - even more useful when taking into account I’m based in London!

The running order is nearing its final version, and I’m not expecting further significant changes to be made.

Admission to WordCamp UK 2008 is only by tickets purchased online - so book now to ensure your place!

WordCamp UK presentation at London Bloggers

I gave a presentation on WordCamp UK last night at the June meeting of London Bloggers.

The presentation [pdf] seemed to go down postively at the well attended meeting at The Coach and Horses in Soho.

Afterwards Alexandra, Andy, Tim and myself made a detailed examination of the various beverages available from behind the bar from the vantage point of the Lego-like seating outside the pub.

New venue for WordCamp UK

The venue for WordCamp UK has been changed - it’s now going to be at The Studio in Birmingham.

This is very close to the previously planned venue and so should not prove to be a problem for those travelling from outside Birmingham.

Details of how to book tickets for the event, to be held 19-20 July 2008, will be released shortly.

For full details go to the WordCamp UK wiki.
