Tickets for the third WordCamp UK, to be held in Manchester on the weekend of 17-18 July 2010, are now on sale.

Discount Early Bird tickets at £20 will be available until 2355 on Sunday 4 July 2010.

This year there are four parallel tracks, designed to cater for all WordPress publishers, designers and developers.

Version 3 of the WordCamp UK 2010 logo has been produced following feedback from WordPress users.

This follows on from versions 1 and 2.

Jonathan Harris, who also produced the previous versions, has radically rethought the logo in the light of comments made on the WordCamp UK mailing list.

Many thanks to Jonathan for a fantastic design, inspired by Factory Records graphics.

In my view this is the final version that will appear on all WordCamp 2010 related material.

Version 2 of the WordCamp UK 2010 logo has been produced by Jonathan Harris following feedback from WordPress users.

Many said the use of “10″ in the previous version could be misinterpreted as meaning this is the tenth WordCamp UK – we’re not there yet – this year’s event will be the third!

Therefore, to clarify this point, “2010″ has been used.

The WordCamp UK 2010 logo has been released.

Designed by Jonathan Harris, and inspired by Factory Records graphics, the logo will be used for branding all material connected with this year’s WordCamp UK to be held in Manchester on 17-18 July 2010.

Tickets for the event are planned to be available later this month, with early bird discounts for prompt purchasers.

The next WordCamp UK will be held on the weekend of 17-18 July 2010 in Manchester.

The decision was taken by the WordCamp UK mailing list following the venue bidding process.

The winning bid, proposed by Chi-chi Ekweozor, is for the event to be held at Manchester Metropolitan University Business School.

The runner up bid was by Rich Boakes for the University of Portsmouth.

I’m happy to be once again coordinating the organisation of WordCamp UK, the informal annual gathering of WordPress publishers, designers and developers based in the United Kingdom, held at a different location around the country each year.

It’s expected general ticket sales for the event will start in early April 2010.

Over the next nine days the decision will be made on the venue for WordCamp UK 2010.

This follows a bidding process, during which submissions have been made which aim to meet or exceed the 2010 venue requirements.

The bidding process has closed, and now the WordCamp UK mailing list (registration required) will be considering the bids and selecting a winner by 5 December 2009.

The two bids are:

• Manchester – Chi-chi Ekweozor has proposed accommodating the event at the Manchester Metropolitan University Business School.
• Portsmouth – Rich Boakes has bid to hold the event at the University of Portsmouth.

WordCamp UK is an informal annual gathering of WordPress publishers, designers and developers based in the United Kingdom.

In 2007 the company behind the Telegraph’s previous closed propriety blogging system went into receivership, leaving the client somewhat up the creek.

Needless to say, this is not a situation that would apply to WordPress, with many individuals and companies across the country available to support the platform, one of which, InterConnect IT, contributed to developing the Telegraph system.

Dave Coveney, of InterConnect IT, is scheduled to speak at this year’s WordCamp UK.

The availability of discount tickets for WordCamp UK 2009 ends at midday (UK time) on Monday 1 June 2009.

At this time the ticket price increases from £25 to £35.

The current draft of the running order shows the range of sessions over the two day event in Cardiff, which include the involvement of:

• WordPress founding developers Matt Mullenweg and Mike Little.
• Public sector WordPress consultant Simon Dickson.
• Web designer and developer Simon Wheatley on integrating WordPress MU, BuddyPress and bbPress.
• WordHack with public sector digital enabler Dave Briggs.
• Nick Garner talking about tools, tips and tricks to get more site traffic.

The running order is subject to change, with any available slots at the opening of WordCamp UK being filled by attendees using a BarCamp grid.

Update Monday 1 June 2009 at 1859: Due to the ticket site being unavailable earlier today, the sale of £25 discount WordCamp UK 2009 tickets has been extended to 2359 (UK time) on Tuesday 2 June 2009.

We’re currently looking for additional sponsorship, with microsponsorship starting at £70.

WordCamp UK 2009 is going to be held at the Future Inn Cardiff on 18 and 19 July 2009.

The other proposals were from David Coveney for Liverpool and Jeff Van Campen for London.
