New venue for WordCamp UK

WordCamp UK logo

The venue for WordCamp UK has been changed - it’s now going to be at The Studio in Birmingham.

This is very close to the previously planned venue and so should not prove to be a problem for those travelling from outside Birmingham.

Details of how to book tickets for the event, to be held 19-20 July 2008, will be released shortly.

For full details go to the WordCamp UK wiki.

The Replicating Rapid-prototyper (RepRap) has built a copy of itself.

Amazing!

Linux and Unix timelines

These are impressive.

GNU/Linux distro timeline, covering 1992 to the present, and Unix history, which includes a Unix timeline spanning 1969 to now.

The explosion of Linux distributions over the past eight years or so is particularly eye opening.

WordCamp UK show of hands

At this stage in planning for WordCamp UK it would be extremely useful to get a show of hands indicating the number of people likely to attend.

This will help in making arrangements such as booking a suitable venue.

Following discussion on the WordCamp UK mailing list the following assumptions are currently being made:

Therefore could everyone indicate if they can attend WordCamp UK, making these assumptions, by adding their name to the attendees page on the event wiki.

It would be useful if responses could be made by 1200 (GMT) on Friday 18 April 2008 at the latest.

Hopefully this will give us a good idea of numbers likely to attend.
