These are impressive.
GNU/Linux distro timeline, covering 1992 to the present, and Unix history, which includes a Unix timeline spanning 1969 to now.
The explosion of Linux distributions over the past eight years or so is particularly eye opening.

Excellent news that Phoenix has successfully landed on Mars.
Landing further north than any previous mission, it’s going to dig into expected water-ice beneath the surface and look for evidence of the building blocks of life.
If it leads to the discovery of life previously on Mars it would be fantastic.
If it leads to the discovery of life now on Mars now it would be brilliant.
I’ll be following the mission with interest.

Entertaining write up by James Cridland on The Guardian Radio Reborn 2008 Conference.
This is how a conference report should be written!
James alludes to Jenny Abramsky rejecting calls to privatise Radio 1 and Radio 2 by Peter Bazalgette.
This is not the first time such a call has been made.
Why? The BBC must serve as many Licence payers as possible, and losing two networks would weaken the Corporation in serving its audience.
Selling off BBC Worldwide is even more bonkers – the money generated goes back into programme making.
I, for one, reject such calls.

Braved the inclement weather last night to attend the April London Bloggers gathering.
Another good night at the West End’s glamorous Coach and Horses.
Amongst those I met were Alexandra Mitchell, Mecca Ibrahim, Andy Roberts, Tim Dickinson and event organiser Andy Bargery.
The next meeting is 27 May 2008 – I’ll be there!

Fascinating slides by Andrew Hinton on connections and contexts in information architecture.
“One of the things our grandchildren will find quaintest about us is that we distinguish the digital from the real” – William Gibson in a Rolling Stone interview quoted in the slides.
